Blayney 10 MW farm proposed for green power program

Electricity retailer Advance Energy and generator Pacific Power have announce plans to jointly develop a wind farm of up to 10 MW at Blayney, 250 kilometres west of Sydney. Subject to final studies and development approval, the wind farm could be operational after mid 1999, according to Advance Energy. For Pacific Power, the Blayney project will follow its 5 MW wind farm at Crookwell, due on line by the end of this month (“uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, September 1997). If the partnership plan goes ahead, the wind farm will be owned and operated by Pacific Power with the green electricity supplied to Advance Energy's green power customers. Work is now underway to finalise the design of the wind farm and evaluate the environmental impacts ahead of a development application to the Blayney Shire Council which is supporting the project because of the potential regional employment and development benefits.
