27 MW in Oaxaca, Conference Digest

A solicitation will be issued this year by Mexico's Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE) sometime for 27 MW in Oaxaca, said CFE's Roberto Cadenas at “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç '96. The province, in central south Mexico, is known for the windy La Venta sites, where a CFE pilot project of seven Vestas V27s was installed on a turn-key basis in 1994 by New World Entec, New World's Mexico operation. The 27-MW La Venta II will replace a fossil fuel combustion-steam plant and must generate power for no more than $0.04/kWh. "CFE's experience with the pilot plant has been convincing, very convincing I think," he said.
