Enel wind tops 1 GW
Enel Green Power, the recently established renewable energy division of Italian utility Enel, has inaugurated two wind farms in the central Italian region of Molise with a combined capacity of 39 MW. With the latest additions, Enel says it now has 381 MW in installed Italian wind capacity, up 21% from the end of 2007. The first project, a 31.45 MW wind farm known as Acquapruzza 2, stretches over the towns of Frosolone and Macchiagodena in the province of Isernia and is composed of 37, 850 kW turbines from Spanish manufacturer Gamesa. The second project, the 7.5 MW Monterosso wind farm in the town of Civitacampomarano in the province of Campobasso is composed of five 1.5 MW General Electric machines. Enel also has 677 MW of installed wind capacity outside of Italy.
