Blade firms consolidate
Following a recent expansion of its production facilities at Almelo, rotor blade manufacturer Aerpac BV looks set to further consolidate its market position as a result of ongoing "negotiations" with fellow Dutch blade concern Rotorline BV of Heerhugowaard. According to Aerpac, a preliminary agreement between the two companies was reached in July. Rumours have been circulating since September to the effect that Aerpac has taken over Rotorline. But the terms of the agreement were still being thrashed out in mid November, according to Aerpac. Neither company is willing to say whether the discussions are for a closer co-operation or a takeover bid. Aerpac's Ernst Fiahayar confirms, however, that the large investments required for participation in the prospective offshore market are an important consideration behind the talks.
