Two final bidders for 600 MW government contract
The Ventinveste consortium headed by Galp Energia will now go head to head with the Novas Energias Ibéricas consortium led by Iberdrola in the final phase of the Portuguese government's latest wind power tender, this time for 600 MW. After evaluation by the tender jury, the Ventinveste bid scored 69.2 points and Novas Energias scored 60.2. The third competitor for the tender, Vento Norte, a consortium comprising Spain's Union Fenosa, Italy's Enel and India's Suzlon, obtained just 56.7 points and exits the competition. The two remaining bidders now face direct negotiations with the jury. Announcement of the winner was expected by the end of April. As well as Galp, Ventinveste comprises Enersis, Efacec, Martifer and Repower, while Gamesa is part of the Iberdrola consortium. The 600 MW tender is the second of a two phase program. Last year, the government awarded 1200 MW of wind projects to the Eólicas de Portugal consortium, headed by national utility Energias de Portugal.
