Shortly before Christmas, Vestas installed a 1.5 MW turbine at Windenergiepark West in Kaiser Wilhelm-Koog in Schleswig-Holstein, the first such machine to be erected in Germany. As the company pointed out, installation of the V63 machine took place 12 years after the dismantling of the failed 3 MW Growian turbine, Germany's first attempt at a megawatt size machine.
