Economics from the Windicator
The rise in wind turbine prices may have levelled off. Machine prices have stabilised -- at least for the moment -- at around EUR 1 million a megawatt. Prices for fully installed wind farms have a far greater variation depending on the location and type of site, but most this year are coming at range of EUR 1.2-1.5 million a megawatt. A factor stabilising prices is the trend towards larger wind farms, which bring significant economies of scale. Offshore the price range continues to be wide, though at EUR 1.77 million a megawatt, the 110 MW Swedish Lillgrund project now commissioning is cheaper than some of the others.
