Repower and Nordex supply mix for 15 MW Rongcheng plant
The 15 MW Rongcheng wind project in East China's Shandong province is to be made up of a mix of ten 1.5 MW turbines supplied by two German turbine makers, Repower and Nordex. The CNY 160 million (EUR 15.4 million) project, a 60:40 joint venture between the Luneng Group, a multi-business enterprise based in Jinan, the capital of Shandong, and the local power supply company Gaohong Group, is due online by the end of the year. Repower is to supply seven machines in the first deal since signing its licence agreement with the Dongfang Steam Turbine Works in November 2004. While the agreement is for Dongfang to put together Repower's 1.5 MW machine to meet China's 70% local production requirement, the assembly plant is still under construction. As a result, the turbines for the Rongcheng project will be manufactured at Repower's German production site in Husum before being shipped later this year. Chinese companies will supply some of the components while LM Glasfiber's China division in Tianjin is expected to supply the blades. Dongfang says it is still looking for an appropriate tower supplier.
