Wind farm of Letigation MW Nordtanks

An 18 MW wind farm of 1.5 MW turbines is to be constructed at Renkenberg near Lathen in the Emsland area of Lower Saxony. According to Nordtank of Denmark, which is to supply the turbines, this will be the world's first wind power station of machines with a capacity rating as high as 1.5 MW. The machines will be shipped to the site from Denmark towards the end of the year in 130 separate deliveries and the plant is scheduled to be on line by 1998. It will supply power into the grid of utility EWE of Oldenburg. The owner will be WP Süstrum, a company set up by a single German investor. Nordtank and its German agent, Nordtank Windkraftanlagen of Ostenfeld, say that several single 1.5 MW Nordtank machines are already planned or in operation in Germany. The first was installed at a site near Gammelby in northern Germany early last month for the operator company WEA Verden owned by Fritz Laabz. A second will be installed in Kronprinzenkoog, also in Schleswig-Holstein, next month, to be followed by a third in June at a site near Paderborn in inland North Rhine Westfalia.
