During its first two months of operation, a NedWind NW 41 turbine installed at the Kibbutz Maale Gilboa in the south east of Galilea, Israel, produced 133,000 kWh, reports the Dutch manufacturer of the machine. Commissioned on August 1 and owned by the Israel Electric Corporation, the 500 kW unit was installed after a selection procedure in which the unit's "active stall control" technology gave it the edge on other turbine manufacturers, says NedWind. Although the selection process was initiated in 1993, the order was only received at the end of 1995 once the lengthy process of acquiring planning permission had been completed. NedWind is "pleased" with the performance to date, says a company spokesperson.
