Volkswind France, a subsidiary of Germany's Volkswind, recently contracted Vestas to supply and commission thirty of its V80 2 MW turbines for a 60 MW development in the Eure-et-Loir département of northern France. When completed, the development will be the largest in France to date. Commissioning is scheduled for the summer. The turbines will be installed in five groups of six units each around the towns of Guillonville and Cormainville. Vestas' Ebbe Funk says the order strengthens a long standing relationship between Vestas and Volkswind. Vestas has "very positive expectations for the French wind energy market," he adds. The company plans to open a maintenance unit at Cormainville to support a number of projects in the area. This is in addition to the three maintenance units it opened last year at Rennes (Brittany), Privas (Ardèche) and Port-St-Louis-du-Rhône, near Marseille. In 2005 Vestas installed 65 units totalling 81.95 MW in France.
