Ventominho inaugurates 240 MW Alto Minho wind farm
Ventominho, a joint venture between France's EDF Energie Nouvelles, Spanish group Endesa and Portuguese group DST, has inaugurated its 240 MW Alto Minho Wind Farm, one of Europe's largest. Participating in the ceremony were Portuguese Prime Minister José Sócrates and economy minister Manuel Pinho. The EUR 361 million project uses 120 Enercon 2 MW wind turbines with an expected annual output of 530 GWh. The wind farm is split over five developments in the four districts of Paredes de Coura, Monção, Melgaço and Valença. All feed their power into the transmission network through the Mendoiro substation. Portuguese civil engineering firm Domingos da Silva Teixeira built the wind farm.
