New World, reportedly negotiating with TU Electric to build a 40 MW power plant near Big Spring, Texas, may install German Enercon E-40 turbines. New World, which has recently signed a deal with Fortune 100 company, Westinghouse Electric Corp, may even have the turbine motors made in a Westinghouse plant near Austin where magnets for the super-collider were once manufactured. Neither TU Electric nor New World will comment on the reports. Westinghouse's Paul Tobin acknowledges the company has a major plant at Round Rock that is only being half used. But he said it is "crazy" to speculate about a product that has not even been bought for a contract that has yet to be signed. TU, a Dallas-based utility, had originally requested 65 MW of wind power. The utility chose the 40 MW bid from New World rather than selecting two developers to fulfil a request for 65 MW, says the company's Kathi Miller.
