Advanced Turbine Development Programme
Awards will be made this autumn on the next phase of the Advanced Turbine Development Programme, says Bob Thresher of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The request for proposals has now been issued and represents part of the fourth phase of the programme, the Full Turbine development. Under that, turbines that can make power for four cents a kilowatt hour are being developed. The first portion of the phase is a two to three month study of the full turbine development, followed by the second stage, the design, development and testing over a period of two to three years.
