WAP monitoring
A pilot program for multimedia on-line monitoring of wind stations is being tested by wind developer Umweltkontor. All available data from the company's wind stations at Gangelt and Schwamtal are posted on an Internet web page, available to the public, says Umweltkontor's Heinrich Lohmann. Users can call up live pictures of each turbine, neighbouring units and the surrounding area and output data can be accessed from the wind stations by mobile phones with Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) technology. The company hopes to offer extensive Internet surveillance of all its plant to allow for an optimum flow of information to investors. The world's first Internet monitoring of wind turbines began two years ago in the United States (“uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, June 1998).
