China exports turbine blades to Japan
China's Zhongfu Lianzhong Composites Group is to export 60 sets of 39 metre wind turbine blades to Japan's Fuji Heavy Industries for use in its 2 MW turbines. Zhongfu Lianzhong and subsidiary blade manufacturer Sinoi have already shipped 28 sets of 37.5 metre blades for 1.5 MW turbines to Argentinean turbine manufacturer Impsa at a price of EUR 180,000 a set. Zhongfu Lianzhong exported the blades from its CNY 1 billion ($146.7 million) manufacturing base in the Lianyungang economic development zone, in eastern Jiangsu province. By next year, it aims to become the largest turbine blade producer in Asia. The company supplies most of its blades to leading Chinese turbine producers Sinovel, Goldwind, Hara XEMC, Dongqi and Shanghai Electric. The 37.5 metre blades were the largest in the country last year, but Sinovel now produces units 40.3 metres long.
