Manufacturer's breakthrough into Swedish market

Finland's sole commercial wind turbine manufacturer, WinWind, has made a pivotal breakthrough into the Swedish market, winning a contract to supply a 1 MW machine to Ostbacks Lantbruk, one of Sweden's biggest regional agricultural organisations. The wind turbine is to be installed on a six hectare site in the municipality of Vara, 90 kilometres west of Gothenburg. The deal rounded off a strong 2004 for WinWind. In December the company also approved plans to develop manufacturing facilities in China as part of an ambitious joint venture project with Harbin Hafei Mechanical and Electrical Products Manufacturing Company to build wind turbines for the Chinese and Asian markets (“uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, January 2005). WinWind also installed Finland's first 3 MW wind turbine near Oulu, on behalf of PVO-Innopower, an alternative energy subsidiary of power company Pohjolan Voima.
