JOHN FAWKES

John Fawkes -- one of the longest established names in British wind energy -- has died. During his 17 years promoting wind his name was synonymous with Marlec, maker of small wind generators used worldwide. Tim Kirby, chairman of the British Wind Energy Association, says: "It is a sad loss of one of the industry's most colourful and effective characters. I found his example inspirational." John Fawkes died peacefully on Good Friday -- April 5 after a long illness. His son Ian continues to run Marlec.
