Companies have been given just one month to bid for supply, installation and commissioning of 80, 3 MW turbines for the Krieger's Flak 1 offshore wind station in the Baltic Sea by its utility developer, Germany's EnBW Systeme Infrastruktur Support. Deadline for expressions of interest is October 13, with project completion at the end of 2011. Bids from consortiums are encouraged, but companies participating in more than one consortium are ineligible. EnBW, one of Germany's big four energy companies, bought the rights to Krieger's Flak from WPD Offshore, part of German wind developer WPD, in May. The project is planned for a site in German waters in the Baltic Sea, 30 kilometres north of Rügen. A construction permit was granted in April 2005. As part of its deal with WPD, EnBW acquired the rights to three other offshore wind projects to give it a combined offshore portfolio of over 1 GW. The other projects are Hochseewindpark Nordsee and He Dreiht in the North Sea and Baltic 1 in the Baltic Sea.
