20 MW WIND PLANT IN GUJARAT

If land can be acquired as planned, a 20 MW wind plant will be completed by March 31 in the state of Gujarat, India, says Brian O'Sullivan of Cannon Energy Corp of California. Cannon has signed a deal to build the project with an Indian concern, Bangor Corp of Calcutta, a conglomerate of about 30 companies. Under the deal, 5 MW of wind will also be installed elsewhere in India. The turbines used will probably be a Danish design, says O'Sullivan. "Considering the wind potential in India, we could be doing business worth $625 million over the next three years," he said in a recent visit to India. Cannon also plans to retool or build a factory in India for a version of its Cannon 250/26, he says. The factory should be ready within a year. The version to be built would be suitable for India's generally lower wind speeds, he said.
