Invenergy secures contract for 800 MW of GE turbines

American wind developer Invenergy Wind secured a large contract last month for 800 MW of GE turbines for projects expected to see construction in 2009 in North America and Europe. The independent developer is in a similar situation many other developers have found themselves in: too many projects and not enough turbines. But the company's orders have been on the rise by 100 MW each year -- all GE turbines. The company is deploying 600 MW of machines this year, another 700 MW next year before receiving its 2009 deliveries. Numerous projects are under construction, mostly in America. But Invenergy is also moving abroad to Canada and Europe. Months ago, it secured a loan from HSH Nordbank for 67 GE units for a still undisclosed development somewhere in Europe. It has an office in the UK.
