GE Vernova has signed a deal to supply three of its 6.0MW-164m turbines for two community wind farms in North Rhine-Westphalia in western Germany.
It booked the order for Münster-based developer BBWind in the first quarter of 2025.
Germany only increased its operational onshore wind capacity by 2.5GW and its offshore fleet by 742MW in 2024, according to statistics agencies FA Wind and Deutsche WindGuard.
However, project permitting (nearly 15GW approved) and auction volumes (11GW contracted onshore, 5.5GW offshore) reached an all-time high in 2024, tracing a clear path towards future growth.
The incoming government is not expected to disrupt momentum in the German wind power sector.
