Enercon is now offering additional, taller hybrid steel towers for its EP5 onshore wind turbines.
The German manufacturer believes it could deliver the new tower variants as early as 2026.
Its hybrid steel towers feature a bottom section made up of steel plates that are bolted together, with tubular steel sections placed on top – combining elements of its modular and tubular steel towers.
Enercon is now offering 162-metre towers for its E-175 EP5 E1/E2 turbines, 175-metre towers for its E-175 EP5 E2 turbines and 166-metre towers for its E-160 EP5 E3 turbines.
It previously only offered hybrid steel towers with heights up to 120 metres.
Until now, EP5 customers wanting higher hub heights have only been able to choose hybrid towers with a combination of concrete and steel segments, Enercon said.
Maria-Josefa Brand, tower product manager at Enercon said: “This step puts tower production on a broader footing and reliably secures our volume for the coming years.”
