Nordex nets onshore turbine order in Brazil

Nordex has received a 112MW wind turbine order for an onshore project in Brazil.

The German wind turbine manufacturer announced on Monday (3 March) that it would supply 19 of its N163/5.X turbines to the project currently being co-developed by Brazil-based energy company Auren Energia, which placed the order.

The 112MW Cajuína 3 onshore wind farm is part of the larger Cajuína Wind Complex currently being built in the state of Rio Grande do Norte on Brazil’s Atlantic coast.

Nordex said the turbines are due to be supplied in an operating mode of 5.9MW on 120-meter concrete towers. Installation is expected at the start of 2026 with commissioning due by the end of next year.

The order includes a service agreement for an initial period of 15 years, with options to extend up to 30 years.

Auren Energia is a renewable energy specialist and Brazil’s third largest energy producer. It operates in nine Brazilian states and owns 39 energy assets across wind, solar and hydroelectric generation, boasting a total installed capacity of 8.8GW.
