Danish investor Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has signed a deal to acquire the 480MW Morecambe offshore wind farm, which is planned for a site off the west coast of England.
The Morecambe project in the Irish Sea is at an advanced stage of development and is due to use fixed-bottom foundations.
CIP is due to acquire full ownership rights from Cobra Group and Flotation Energy.
Financial terms of the transaction are not being disclosed.
Flotation Energy is due to continue to help develop the project after the transaction closes.
The transaction is set to close following customary approvals being received.
Cobra and Flotation secured a seabed lease for Morecambe in the UK’s fourth seabed leasing round in 2021. They have also submitted permitting applications for the project.
CIP aims to have it online before 2030. There is no offtake agreement in place for Morecambe.
The Danish developer has a 25GW-plus renewable energy development pipeline in the UK, covering onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage and network infrastructure.
