First onshore cables delivered for 1.4GW Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind hub

Tele-Fonika Kable (TFKable) has completed the first delivery of HV 220kV and EHV 400kV onshore cables for the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms.

The ‘milestone delivery’ included 24 reels and weighed 310 tonnes. In total, 198 reels will be delivered in multiple phases, TFKable said. All cables were manufactured at the company’s Bydgoszcz facility in Poland.

TFKable signed a contract last September to supply 85km of onshore HV export cables (220kV) to connect the offshore substation to the onshore substation, and 38km of onshore EHV cables (400kV) to connect the onshore substation to the grid.

Located 22-37km from the Polish coast, the 720MW Bałtyk 2 and 720MW Bałtyk 3 are being developed by Equinor and Polenergia. They are set to start delivering renewable energy in 2027.
