French oil firm TotalEnergies will supply renewable energy to several sites in France run by a company specialised in semiconductor technology.
TotalEnergies will supply Franco-Italian STMicroelectronics with 1.5TWh of wind and solar power through a 15-year power purchase agreement.
An ST spokesperson told “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç that the power would be sourced from two hybrid 75MW wind and solar farms located in France.
They added it would be used across the firm’s activities in research and development, design, and high-volume chip manufacturing.
TotalEnergies is continuing to expand its renewable energy portfolio in contrast to other oil majors like Shell and BP, which have scaled back plans for new renewable energy projects in recent months.
The company currently has stakes in around 24GW of renewable energy capacity and aims to reach 35GW in 2025.
