CIP takes over 5GW wind-powered green hydrogen project

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has acquired 90% of the shares in German developer ABO Energy’s planned Toqlukuti'k project in eastern Canada.

The project in Newfoundland and Labrador is set to use up to 5GW of wind power capacity to produce green hydrogen and ammonia.

A CIP spokesman told “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç that it is too early to name specific end-users for the green fuels, but added that the investment firm’s energy transition fund typically intends to sell hydrogen and ammonia for use in agriculture, shipping, refineries and steel production.

ABO Energy – which will retain a 10% stake in the project – and CIP will jointly adjust the technical concept of the project in order to optimally meet demand, they said.
