Suzlon wind turbines to power 'green steel' production in India

Indian manufacturer Suzlon secured an order from Jindal Renewables that will see it provide a further 302.4MW of turbines to help power "green steel" production in the southern Indian state of Karnataka.

It will provide 96 of its S144 turbines – with rotor diameters of 144 metres and power ratings of 3.15MW – for a project linked to “green steel" production. This is a method of producing steel with lower carbon emissions than traditional steel production, which is heavily reliant on fossil fuels to produce the required temperatures.

The latest 302.4 MW supply deal between Suzlon and Jindal follows a similar agreement the pair signed earlier this year for an order of 400MW of wind turbines.
