The first turbines of the 450MW Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm in Scotland are now connected to the national grid and generating power, EDF Renewables has announced.
The wind farm – which is owned by EDF Renewables UK and Ireland-based energy company ESB – is located 15.5km off the coast of Fife, and will consist of 54 Siemens Gamesa turbines.
All turbines are expected to be commissioned in the next few months. The site is expected to be fully completed by summer 2025.
France-based EDF group acquired the Neart Na Gaoithe offshore wind project in 2018 from Irish developer Mainstream Renewable Power.
