Enercon wins large wind turbine order amid German ‘upswing’

Enercon has secured a 330MW turbine order for a handful of projects in southern Germany amid a “clearly noticeable” upswing in the German onshore wind market.

It will supply 50 of its E-175 EP5 turbines and seven of its E-138 EP3 turbines, plus two substations, for an undisclosed number of projects in Bavaria and Rhineland-Palatinate.

Construction will start ahead of the wind farms being completed by 2027.

“The upswing in the German wind market is clearly noticeable - among other things, high-volume auctions and faster approval procedures are contributing to this,” said Enercon chief commercial officer Uli Schulze Südhoff. “With our current product portfolio and our service, we believe we are ideally positioned.”
