Vestas to supply turbines for Dutch offshore wind-to-green hydrogen project

Vestas has received a firm order to supply and commission 53 of its V236-15.0MW turbines for RWE and TotalEnergies’ 795MW OranjeWind project in the Dutch North Sea.

The Danish manufacturer will also service the turbines for five years after commissioning.

The developers last week reached financial close on the wind farm – formerly known as the Hollandse Kust West VII project – after TotalEnergies agreed to acquire 50% of the project.

Wind turbine installation is expected to start in 2027 ahead of project commissioning the following year.

OranjeWind is due to be paired with battery storage as well as electrolysis capacity to produce green hydrogen. TotalEnergies plans to use the green hydrogen produced from its half of the project to help decarbonise its refineries in northern Europe.
