EDF Renewables and Masdar will build a 166MW wind farm to power a data centre in Texas.
The two-phase project will supply power for Soluna Holdings, a developer of data centres for intensive computing applications such as Bitcoin mining and AI.
The wind farm and data centre will share the same site.
Soluna names data centres after women scientists who help catalyse major innovation. This one is named after Kati Kariko, a Hungarian scientist who was key in developing mRNA-based protein therapies, a basis for today’s mRNA vaccines.
