A company founded to develop offshore wind infrastructure in Scotland has received a £100 million boost for its plans to improve facilities at the port of Ardersier from two UK investment banks.
Haventus was founded in 2023 after the previous year’s Scotwind offshore wind leasing round and is owned by private capital investment firm Quantum Capital Group.
The firm said on Monday (13 April) it had received £50 million (€58.1 million) apiece in credit from the Scottish National Investment Bank (the Bank) and UK Infrastructure Bank (UKIB) to help fund its renewable infrastructure facility at Ardersier port.
Located on the Moray Firth inlet in the Scottish highlands, the port is earmarked to be a key component in Scotland’s planned offshore wind build out.
Owners Quantum Capital Group announced a £300 million commitment to making Ardersier compatible with offshore wind development after founding Haventus last year.
Lewis Gillies, chief executive at Haventus, said work was now underway at the port, and he expects it to be completed in the second half of 2025.
Leases for up to 24GW of fixed bottom and floating offshore wind were awarded in the 2022 Scotwind tender.
