Corio opens global headquarters in London

Corio Generation has officially opened its new headquarters in London, in a move the company’s CEO Jonathan Cole said cements its status as “one of Great Britain’s premier offshore wind developers”.

Cole said: “Selecting this location for our global headquarters reflects our continued commitment to the UK market and our desire to operate as sustainably as possible, while meeting the growing needs of our business.”

With its partners, Corio is developing two UK major wind farms totalling over 3.5GW: the 1500MW Outer Dowsing offshore wind project off the coast of Lincolnshire in England, and the 2000MW West of Orkney wind farm off the coast of Orkney in Scotland.

In total, the two projects will produce enough renewable electricity to power over 3.6 million UK households.

Since it launched two years ago, Corio has doubled its pipeline of offshore wind farms in development across Europe, Asia-Pacific and Americas to 30GW.

It is active across 15 markets worldwide and has a team of 300 industrial and financial specialists based in strategic regional hubs such as London, Edinburgh, Madrid, Seoul, Melbourne, Taipei, Boston and Rio de Janeiro.

Corio’s new global headquarters is on the 9th floor of the JJ Mack Building in Farringdon, London. The building is one of the UK’s most sustainable new commercial office premises and was constructed with low carbon materials such as ‘earth friendly’ concrete.

Corio is a Macquarie Asset Management portfolio company. Macquarie is one of the largest investors in the UK’s offshore wind sector, having helped finance projects representing an estimated 50% of the UK’s operational offshore wind capacity, according to Corio.
