Nordex has secured a deal to supply a 336MW cluster of wind farms in South Africa – cementing its position as the market leader in Africa’s biggest wind market.
It is due to supply 57 of its N163/5.X turbines with concrete towers for three 112.1MW wind farms in the Eastern Cape province.
The province has “very good wind conditions”, Nordex stated.
It has withheld the name of the customer and the projects.
Installation is due to start in the second half of 2024, ahead of first power being delivered to the grid in the second half of 2025.
Nordex is the market leader in South Africa, and has supplied more than 1.1GW of operational wind turbines. This accounts for about a third of the country’s 3.4GW operational wind fleet.
