German drivetrain specialist Flender has agreed to acquire wind turbine gearbox producer Eickholff Wind Asia and its assembly plant in Chennai, India.
The deal with fellow German gearbox maker Eickholff will help Flender to further expand and localise its wind turbine drivetrain systems in India, the German firm stated.
Eickholff Wind Asia’s facility currently has a test bench capacity of up to 8MW.
The transaction is subject to “minor” closing conditions and is expected to be completed in the next few days, Flender stated.
Flender was previously a Siemens subsidiary, but was acquired by asset management firm Carlyle Group in March 2021.
