Chinese manufacturer Envision has signed a deal to supply 300MW of wind turbines to Indian renewables developer Juniper Green Energy.
The deal covers the manufacture and supply of 91 of Envision’s EN 156-3.3 MW turbines to a wind farm currently being developed by Juniper in Gujarat state, western India.
The project is expected to produce 1TWh/year and forecast to be commissioned in 2025.
India is a growing market for Envision, which last year secured the highest volume of overseas turbine orders among Chinese OEMs, according to Wood Mackenzie.
RPV Prasad, the CEO of Envision Wind Power Technologies India, said the company would manufacture the nacelles and hubs for the wind turbines at its Pune factory in Maharashtra state, India, while towers and blades for the turbines would be sourced locally.
India has over 44GW of wind capacity installed according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, giving it the fourth largest wind fleet of any country in the world behind China, the US, and Germany.
