Prysmian Group has announced the successful commissioning of the inter-array cable system for the Fécamp offshore wind farm, located some 24 kilometres off the coast of Normandy, in northern France.
The 497MW Fécamp offshore wind farm comprises 71 wind turbines, each with a power rating of 7MW, and will generate enough electricity to meet the power needs of more than 770,000 people.
Prysmian secured the contract in 2020 with an award made by project developer EDF Renewables and its partners.
Prysmian was responsible for the design, manufacture, installation, burial, termination and testing of 118km of 33kV submarine cables with 630mm2 cross-sections and both aluminium and copper cores. The cables connect the 71 turbines to the offshore substation.
