Ørsted secures turbine installer for under-pressure Hornsea Three offshore wind farm

Ørsted has contracted offshore wind construction firm Havfram to install turbines at its under-pressure 2.8GW Hornsea Three wind farm off the east coast of England.

Havfram will deploy its newly built NG20000X jack-up vessel – which features a 3,250-tonne crane – to install an undisclosed number of the project’s 231 turbines.

Installations are due to start in autumn 2026.

Ørsted – along with other offshore wind developers – recently warned of an“extraordinary combination” of financial pressures jeopardising development of their projects, including Hornsea Three.
