Renewables developer Peregrine Energy Solutions plans to repower an Iowa wind farm, nearly tripling its capacity in the process.
Peregrine explained that it would “redevelop and expand” assets at Old Gold Energy Center – formerly known as Top of Iowa I – a wind farm in northern Iowa.
Matt Von Tungeln, the director of development at Peregrine, added that initial projections for the repowering plans would almost triple the wind farm’s capacity from 80MW up to 230MW and include an 80MW battery storage system.
The Old Gold Energy Center features 89 Vestas turbines and was first commissioned in 2001.
