RWE and Northland Power have lined up Vestas to supply its 15MW turbines for a 1.6GW offshore wind cluster in the German North Sea.
The cluster includes two projects included in a 1.8GW tender announced yesterday (27 February), and two projects for which the partners secured leases in 2021.
RWE and Northland Power have now signed a preferred supplier agreement with Vestas for at least 104 of the Danish manufacturer’s V236-15.0MW turbines, subject to a final investment decision on the cluster. Vestas would also service the turbines under the agreement.
The projects will be located north of the island of Juist in the German North Sea, and could be operational this decade.
