Offshore contractor Saipem and heavy lifting specialist Seaway7 are teaming up to build offshore wind farms in Europe, the UK and the US.
The two companies plan to jointly identify offshore wind farms, bid for construction contracts, and then install foundations, inter-array cables, substations and turbines.
They plan to focus on projects in the UK and other parts of Europe, as well as the US, but suggested that they may also target projects farther afield.
The partners plan to engage early with clients and the supply chain to secure vessels and yards, they stated.
Both companies have decades of experience in oil and gas, but have moved into offshore wind in recent years.
