Renewable investment company EuroEnergy has agreed to buy an onshore wind project in Croatia for a total investment of €150 million.

EuroEnergy announced it would buy the 114MW Udbina wind farm near Udbina, central Croatia. The project would significantly boost Croatia’s current wind energy portfolio on completion.

The country currently has just over 1GW of operational wind capacity, according to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Intelligence, the research and data division of “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç.

EuroEnergy is awaiting permitting approval for the project.

The purchase represents one of Croatia’s first clean energy investments since the country joined the Eurozone earlier this month.

EuroEnergy stated that it reserves the right to expand the project further, with an additional 70.5MW of wind capacity depending on electricity grid upgrades.
