Drone-based turbine service firm Perceptual Robotics has announced plans to expand its offering after a successful funding round.
The UK-based firm uses a drone – Dhalion – coupled with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide detailed inspection services on wind turbines.
Dhalion drones can examine turbines in detail, collecting data for analysis using bespoke AI software. The company claims that the Dhalion system increases safety during inspections, improves cost-effectiveness and reduces downtime for wind farm operators.
Perceptual Robotics was founded in 2016 after emerging from the University of Bristol and the Bristol Robotics Laboratory. It remains based in Bristol, UK, and also has a base in Athens, Greece. They launched operations in both France and Spain last year.
London-based Brookstreet Equity Partners led its most recent funding round.
Perceptual Robotics is already backed by investors including TSP Ventures, Future Fund, Humble Holdings and Metavallon VC.
