Several gigawatt-scale US offshore wind projects have taken important steps in recent weeks, with developers scoping out sites off the east coast, and lining up key hubs and contractors.
Fugro has commenced survey work in the New York Bight, to help inform the development of RWE and National Grid’s up to 3GW Community Offshore Wind project.
Atlantic Shores and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority have signed a letter of intent (LOI), regarding the use of the New Jersey Wind Port as a marshalling hub for the 1.5GW Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind 1 project.
Meanwhile, Empire Offshore Wind, the Equinor-BP joint venture, has contracted DEME Offshore US to transport and install the 2GW Empire Wind 1 and 2’s inter-array cables.
