Plans for Baltic Sea offshore wind farms advance

Authorities in Estonia and Finland have advanced permitting of two large-scale offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea.

Estonia has approved the environmental impact assessment (EIA) programme for the 1.2GW Saare-Liivi offshore wind farm.

The project is being developed by Utilitas Wind, at a site in the Gulf of Riga.

It could be completed in 2028.

Meanwhile, Finnish developer Suomen Hyötytuuli has reported that the partial master plan for the expansion of its Tahkoluoto offshore wind farm was approved by the city council of Pori in November 2022.

It is intended to install 40 turbines, each of which would provide more than 15MW, 4-22km off Pori.
