The final few days of 2022 saw Vestas reporting a flurry of turbine purchase agreements.

The largest was a 288MW order from Engie Brasil Energia, for 64 V150-4.5MW turbines for the 846MW Serra do Assuruá wind farm in Gentio do Ouro, Bahia. Vestas had already agreed to supply the development’s first phase, with commercial operations expected to start gradually from the second half of 2024.

Two orders were reported from the USA, where the manufacturer agreed to supply 48 V150-4.5MW turbines to AES Corporation, for the 216MW Chevelon Butte II wind farm in Arizona. A 73MW order for 33 V110-2.0MW turbines in 2.2MW mode was also received, to repower an undisclosed US wind farm.

Elsewhere, the OEM reported a 252MW order for an undisclosed project in Australia, to which it will supply 42 V162-6.2MW turbines in 6MW mode and deliver the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC).

The European market also provided some buoyancy.

In Italy, Vestas agreed to supply 20 V150-4.2MW turbines to W.E.B Group subsidiary, Campo Eolico Ariano (CEA). They will be installed at the 84MW Ariano Irpino project in Campania. It also received a 76MW order from ERG, for 13 V150-4.2MW turbines and five V136-4.2MW turbines. They will be used to repower the 75.6MW Salemi-Castelvetrano repowering wind farm in Sicily.

In Sweden, a 93MW order from SR Energy was announced, for 15 V162-6.2MW turbines for the 93MW Älgkullen project.

In Romania, Vestas received a 60MW order from DTEK Renewables for the 60MW Ruginoasa project. It will comprise ten V162-6.2MW turbines in 6MW mode.

And in Germany, Vestas received a 50MW order for nine V150-6.0MW turbines in 5.6MW mode for an undisclosed project.
