Irish developer mainstream Renewable Power is partnering with a Filipino energy firm to develop a 90MW wind farm in the Philippines.

It plans to co-develop the 90MW Libmanan project with Aboitiz Power Corporation’s renewables subsidiary Aboitiz Renewables. Subject to regulatory approval, Mainstream is due to own 40% of the wind farm, with Aboitiz set to hold 60%.

The wind farm would be built in Camarines Sur province on the north-eastern Filipino island of Luzon.

The developers expect to reach financial close in 2023 and achieve commercial operations in 2025.

Meanwhile, the Filipino government has backed south-east Asian energy company Coro Energy's plans to build a 100MW wind farm in the Philippines.

By the end of November, it plans to apply to install a meteorological mast and reserve a 46km² site on the central island of Cebu.
