Norway’s Marine Energy Test Centre (METCentre) has secured permitting approval to test four new offshore wind turbines off Norway’s south-west coast.
It will now host seven turbines – including one for which Unitech owns the concession, in addition to two other test plots for which it had previously secured permitting.
METCentre currently hosts an Iberdrola-led consortium’s ‘Flagship’ floating project and Stiesdal’s TetraSpar pilot.
It envisages five more turbines being installed at the site in Karmøy by 2026, and has signed agreements with companies for the expanded testing capacity.
is the METCentre’s only future project publicly announced to date.
